Astbury May Day
Astbury May Day is the principal fund raising event of our school, as well as a cherished custom of our village community. Held each year, on the third Saturday in May, the children take part in a procession, in costume, through the village into church. After a short service the parade continues to Glebe Farm field where the crowning of the new May Queen takes place. This is followed by traditional may pole and country dancing, stalls, rides and attractions.
In order to ensure the continued success of Astbury May Day, we need help, and lots of it! The day does not go ahead without the valiant efforts of a group of dedicated volunteers.
So we are appealing to people in our local community, all our new parents, and of course parents with children already in the school to step forward and offer their assistance. It doesn’t matter if its just a few hours – or whether you can spare us days/weeks/months – we will welcome you with open arms!
Please contact any member of our committee below (via the school office if you are not sure who they are) who would be happy to give you more details :-
