Governor Newsletter Autumn 2013

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends

My first term as Chair of Governors is almost over having taken over from Donna Graham in September. I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all the time and effort she has given during her two years as Chair. She is a very hard act to follow! Thankfully she remains part of the governing body and is now our Vice Chair.

We were sorry to see Miss Yates leave our school, but thank her for her contribution and wish her all the best for the future. We welcome Mrs Hodder to our teaching staff as she takes over the teaching in Class Moses and wish her well in that role.

Governors spent a day in school on 8th November for another of our Open days. This time governors spent part of the school day sharing our skills and linking this to a challenge. Bren- da Cook organised a nature detectives challenge in Class Moses, Sally Brightwell held a card making craft session in Class Noah, Donna Graham led a balloon debate in Class Jacob, Rich- ard Goodwin helped to build a dinosaur in Class Jonah and I set an IT challenge for Class Jo- seph. The finalists in the balloon debate were all given the opportunity to take part in a debate at Eaton Bank Academy on the NHS and the overall winner received a £10 book voucher.

The day helped governors to increase our knowledge of the school and build positive relation- ships with staff and pupils. We also attended a celebration worship, monitored the lunchtime procedure and some governors were invited to a question and answer session with the school council.

Thank you to Mr O’Leary, Mrs Williams, all of their staff and the children for making us feel so welcome.

Kath Moore, Chair of Governors
