School Governors

Governors play an important role in the life of the school taking a long term strategic view of the way the school is developing over the next few years.

The diverse backgrounds of the Astbury St. Marys school governors bring a wealth of experience to the governing body, all with ultimately the same aim to move the school forwards with security and consistency and to equip the pupils with the knowledge and skills they will require when they leave us to go on to their secondary schools.

Governors play an important role in the life of the school taking a long term strategic view of the way the school is developing over the next few years. Governors are like a team of directors who make decisions about standards, policies, funding and recruitment. We work in conjunction with the head teacher and senior staff to implement the statutory school development plan.

A number of changes to the way Governors operate have been introduced, including our new Governor Open Day; governors attend as many lessons and activities as possible within school to raise the profile of Governors and forge closer links. We will also have more team involvement at senior level to ease succession into key roles within the Governing body so that we can build on the excellent foundations in the past and continue to “care, share and learn together”.
